I think it's too much of a risk worth taking. I was talking to my eye doctor today and we were discussing the dangers of contacts. He said that people often push their luck and misuse them. The risk of a fungal or other infection is apparently rare. You should follow the instructions. He says that if the contacts don't feel right: (uncomfortable, dry, etc) and your eyes hurt, you need to listen to them and take them out. The people who didn't follow the instructions often regret it and sometimes the effects are permanent.
Is it normal to wear disposable contacts far beyond the guidelines?

I don't wear them anymore if they are uncomfortable or damaged.
