    • GDP growth created by unnecessary new purchases doesn't mean sustainable growth in the long run. It just wastes resources. If there is even a slight downturn and people start consuming less, elastic goods such as shoes that people dont need will be the first to go. Thousands of workers will lose jobs because their job is to make shoes that people don't need. Besides, 95% of all shoes are made in China nowadays, I dont know where you live. But if its china I understand where you're coming from.

      I doubt that OP is being a miser and not spending money. He probably invests the money that he saves on shoes more wisely, I highly doubt that he's stashing it under his mattress of something
