Is it normal to wear clothes until they disintegrate?

  • I have continued to wear clothes that have become worn down, but some were so messed up that I only wear inside my house.

My last pair of converse high tops were badly chewed by my dog and at the time, I believe those were the only "wearable" shoes I had at the time.

I once got my suede skate shoes soaking wet so, I washed and dried them. When I took them out I tried to wear them but it was impossible. I'm guessing it was the was too blame because the sole bent upwards around the end of the laces. The shoe had shrunk and it was beyond painful having to wear them. Eventually, I got rid of them and bought a new pair of shoes.

I've had the most problems with pants. Brands and the materials they use make a huge difference. I used to wear cheeper denim and it didn't take many washes for them pants to start to tear. I believe about 3 pairs deteriorated near the bottom of the font pocket. These tears were rather close to my crotch so I having to sew them. The stitches would stay in for a while but then they would unmend themselves. I also had a par of corduroys and they tore in different places. One pair in the back near my tush and in the front. I loved those pants and I did my best to repair them but they kept falling into tatters again!

For my shirts, a few have gotten holes in them but the majority of them got a permanent stain in them and a few others shrunk. One shirt I made the mistake of wearing it brand new to a art class where I managed to get yellow acrylic on it so, it became a sleep shirt. Then one eventful night, I was drinking hot coffee and I spilled it. Some of it got on the bottom of that shirt but the majority of it got on my super Mario lounge pants. I tried to wash the stains out but they still remain. The lounge pants I'm wearing now are torn at the bottom of the leg, but the rest of them are okay.
