Is it normal to wear a nightguard?

I didn't think i ever got stressed until i starting waking up with a sore jaw. Now thanks to my dentist i have a guard that i put on my teeth to wear at night. Is this normal?

    Well, I had the exact same things, but we call them a retainer or invisalign. :L and I only wore it to stop my teeth moving back after I had braces.

    You want to save on dental bills? Wear it. Teeth break and chip from grinding. Very bad
