'Old creep'? Please. Your family has a stupid prejudice against any show that has children as a target audience, apparently. I think the fact that you like Avatar shows how ridiculous that prejudice is. "Childrens' shows" don't stop having their own merit just because you grow out of the age that the designers made the show for.
My mom watches Spongebob. I like Phineas&Ferb. My brother set a recording timer to catch every single My Little Pony episode... Yes, my BROTHER, he's 23, and no, he's not gay.
So get rid of your issues and don't judge people for watching kids' shows. Tell your family to take a hike and watch what you want!
