Test away, I say! If they pass, they gets a**, and if they fail, they gets no tail!
Sorry.
Seriously, there's nothing wrong with a little, innocent testing, especially if it's based on true circumstance. I have been betrayed by people in the past and now have trust issues with everyone at first. I seem very open but actually keep a lot to myself until I get to know people because when I get hurt it's pretty devastating. So to protect my feelings, shortly after I meet someone I begin bonding with, I have tested them on occasion. I have "tested" new friends, co-workers, fellow students, and love interests, usually with a small, insignificant (but real) secret, and then I wait to see if it gets out. If they don't keep it, it comes back to me pretty quickly. If they do, I never hear it, and until I do, I continue building trust with them by being more and more open. It's not foolproof, but it has helped avoid some potential toxic relationships in my life.
Is it normal to want to 'test' a significant other?
