You don't have to punch them (even though it should be *mandatory* to do so). They get all pissed off if you just cock your head at them and say something like, "My goodness" and then just do your job like normal.
They get the message. Trust me. What makes them maddest is that what are they gonna do? Report you to your boss for doing your job in an efficient and polite manner after they acted like trash to you? Riiiiight...
