Is it normal to want to live in the wild?

I live in a very urban country and am just so frustrated by all the sms, calls, emails that I receive everyday. City air sucks too, and the daily schedule of sitting at desk all day is so unhealthy! I want to live in the wild and be with nature. I think humans have digressed too far and animals are better. INN to want to live in the wild, away from civilisation?

I totally agree! Curiously, at the beggining people lived in the wild and the rural, with low income and industry development, they moved to the cities to get better jobs and better conditions. With all the industrialisation cities are very poluted and life is based on materials and gadgets and stuff created by man to fufill it's stupid interests. I don't know where you live but in Europe people are tending to return to the rural and to the wild to escape this materealisation of life in the big cities, I also love the nature and I think that the real meaning of life is to enjoy all the stuff that nature offers to us, the fresh air, the landscapes, the animals, the ocean, the simple and good stuff!

Me too hey, but for me I'm just over people and cars and traffic and work and shit, living off the land away from it all sounds like paradise to me :)

Yes, it's normal and your reaction to human society around you more and more common. People in densely populated and/or urban areas report these feelings frequently, and often experience higher levels of stress because of the lack of privacy, pollution, crowding, and lack of natural habitat.

I'm sorry you're having to go through this and hope you're able to live in a more suitable and more natural setting soon. Hang in there in the meantime! :(

It would be cool - but I think I would keep it as an escape.... like a cabin that is off the grid or something. Then if I wanted to, I could live there - I like the choice.

I used to want to live in the forest when I was younger, but some strange stuff can happen in the forest.... I don't want to take part.

I still love forests and places with creeks or mountains. But in each case, I would HAVE to have some form of shelter. Fallingwater, a castle in europe or even a traditional Japanese home. Somewhere, closer to nature:) Peace and quiet. Privacy, but I don't want to be complete cut of from humanity. I love cities, but eventually you start to crave more greenery and less clustering of populations.

In fact I wish I could live in the wild right now. The closest thing might be living in Africa, Greenland, the rainforest, or on an island in the middle of the ocean. You'd need to learn a lot before you could, though, or else you'd risk staying alive.

I used to feel this way when I was 15(Maybe it was angst). Then I realized how unrealistic it was for me. In my head I figured I could be a girl version of Bear Grylls, but more bad ass.(Though he wasn't known 8 years ago). I would only enter civilization when I needed supplies.(With what money?)

Then I dropped it because it wasn't plausible. I was just out of step in society. I wanted to be a hermit. I'm not sure if these feelings relate to anything you are feeling. I was a distant, introverted child. All good now. :P
