Is it normal to want to j/o rather than have sex?

I am a 32 male, am not some ugly troll and date quite often. I am very social and all that good stuff, but when it comes to sex I would rather jerk off than have sex. Sometimes i dont want to worry about the other person, sometimes i dont want to get all cleaned up (before sex - as I always clean up after of course), other times i just want to get off and get my day going. I have never had any "issues" in bed, and the people i have had sex with in the past have initiated sex again, so i assume i am not horrible at it. I just prefer being by myself in that regard, as opposed always having a "helping hand". Is this normal??? Am i a freak??? Help

    I do have that preference sometimes, its also destroying my relationship, most women (not all I knpw some who love to) have a problem with there partner j/o, they take it personally, it makes them feel insecure, like their not good enough, and in turn they will take their insecurities out on you, so either learn to balance it, find a parnter who doesnt care, or lonliness and strife is in your future

    Eva... Very good point. I think that i am so focused on making sure the other person is well satisfied i neglect meself.... Maybe a little role reversal is in order. Thanks!!!

    Maybe u need a woman who is willing to let u use her just to get off sometimes? Like my man is very generous in bed with me, so I don't mind if once in awhile or even every other time if he is the only one getting off. And hey, sometimes that 'helping hand' could help u get off faster.

    To a certain degree. Nothing wrong with masturbating, even if you do so more than have sex. I always thought of masturbating as preparing for sex. Are there other reasons than you cited that make it undesirable? Dig deep. Good luck
