I can understand this. It's not like I'd want a girlfriend who farted constantly, literally non-stop, but it would be good to know she was secure enough to fart in my company.
I think it's strange that some girls even have issues with farting around boyfriends. It's not like most of us even care about farts, we all know you girls do them :P When our guy friends fart we usually laugh and think it's hilarious, we don't judge them for having excess gas in their bodies. It's not like I'm attracted to farts, but it isn't repulsive. More like, "You farted. So what? No big deal".
Frankly, if a guy thinks you're gross because you fart he's a genuine idiot. OP, it's normal, because it's normal to not be an idiot :P
