I don't know how normal sexual thoughts about children are, because it's not something most people are comfortable talking about (or even conducting studies about). If they were just thoughts, I wouldn't be too worried.
What worries me here is the word "irresistible". As long as these thoughts are inside your own head, and you're not acting on them, they're not hurting anybody. But if you feel like these thoughts are compulsions, or you think you might act on them, I urge you to talk to a psychiatrist about this as soon as you possibly can. Get help before you hurt somebody.
