Controversial opinion here. If I was the guy with the rifle hell yes I would shoot harambe. Gorillas arent that intelligent and are very territorial. I rather shoot the gorilla than to have the gorilla potentially rip a kid in half then shoot the gorilla.
Seeing how what happened to harambe only happens very rarely I would say it's just general happenstance. As in it would eventually happen since climbing over a 4 foot concrete wall isnt difficult for children especially if they dont comprehend their own mortality. Parents could of looked away for a minute and it would happen. Some kids are death prone.
So what? That gorilla got far, far more fame from being turned into an internet meme in death vs what it did in life.
I wouldnt say what happened that day was good but I wouldnt say it was catastrophic either. Just like a bump in the road level of nuisance in the grand scheme of things.
Irresponsible yes. But are parents always 100% aware of what their kids are doing?
It's just a minor mishap that could of ended worse. Chances are the kid is traumatized enough by that experience.
Not like acquiring a new gorilla is "that" hard. Sure it's a pain in the ass to source a new gorilla but gorillas plentiful enough where harambe dying really doesnt screw over the zoo that much.

I honestly don't know what I would do. I think I just like talking about Harambe.
My main question is how does someone pay so little attention to their kid that this sort of thing even happens?

I just feel like that kid's mom should have been paying better attention. I feel like Harambe died, because of that stupid kid, and his mom.
