Is it normal to want to eat dog meat?

i have never eaten dog meat till i went to china. Right now i am currently living in china and i have a small pomeranian. Dog meat is like a local delecassy. i have only tried it one time, taste like lean beef. they practically sell it at the supermarket. i feel wrong or for eating it because i own a dog. Is this normal to want to try it again.

    Poms are pretty small. Shouldn't be a problem on the rotisserie. Just make sure you shave it first - nothing worse than the smell of burning hair.

      i hear they use a blowtorch to get the fur off. sometimes they do it when there still alive
      its so sad.

    That's really what they eat in china? I thought that was a joke about Chinese food being dogs and cats. Well I still don't believe it...

      It does, but it's far from being a staple food.
      You could live in China your whole life and never taste it.

      Beef, fish, chicken, pork, deer, whatever.. all delicious when done right. And humanity hasn't existed this long on alfalfa sprouts. Make my buffalo rare please.

        It's fine - people eat cows, lamb (baby sheep), squid, pig, snails, chickens, turkeys, ducks, pigeons, goats, all kinds of fish, horses and frogs.

        Just because for various reasons dogs have been kept as pets for centuries doesn't make them not an animal like the other animals. I'd be curious to eat it too.

        However, China is generally very bad in regards to animal welfare, especially that of animals bred for slaughter. I like to eat meat, but I like to eat meat that has come from an animal that had a reasonably good existence. If it's dog meat from a Chinese market I wouldn't buy it.
