Is it normal to want to do nice things in secret?

I'd like to do nice things for people in secret. It just feels wrong to get recognition for good deeds. Really, this is a feeling I wouldn't normally admit, because to me, it sounds pretentiously humble. Maybe I just need to learn how to accept gratitude better, but regardless, I'm curious to see if other people are like this.

It’s much more gratifying when people don’t know it’s you.

I like doing nice things anonymously and for seemingly no reason I prefer it so that way the don't feel in debt to me or have to thank me constantly

    Haha yes, sometimes it is.

As long as you're doing good and are content with it not being noticed by others that you're doing it then there's nothing wrong continuing as you are :)

I'm kinda the same way, and like to do things in secret, or try to surprise people when I can.

I am similar, I don't always want people to know I am doing nice things for them. It kind of defeats the purpose. Although hopefully they see the things you are doing as nice things. However it is nice to feel appreciated too. So keep it up but don't drain yourself in the process.

I think that's pretty cool, actually. Says a lot about you. Keep it up.

    Gratitude and compliments are annoying
