Is it normal to want to cut off my emotions completely?

  • I always got shut down for my emotions. My family taught me that showing emotion is weak. My bf feels the same way and frowns up being happy, sad, or angry. In reality I am normal and i do feel emotions like excitement, sadness etc but on the surface I show no emotions. This really isn't healthy at all and people do notice. You should try to break out of this habit. I remind myself when I'm not around those people that I can be myself but it's hard.

    • I'm sorry your parents are doing that to you. They definitely shouldn't impose that way of thinking on you... I have no idea if it's a stage I'm going through but I feel exactly the same way as your parents. Somehow, I wish my parents did that to me... Wanna trade? :P
