When I meet someone I'm interested in I always have this urge to hug them or just brush their arm. I constantly feel the need to be close to them or touching them. It can be anything from tapping their shoulder to touching their face. Is this normal?
Yes, but be mindful of their personal space as you do this. Some people aren't as affectionate as others and too much affection may make them uncomfortable.
so familiar to me. there's a person I really want to hug every time I see her so much it hurts. but we're not even friends and there's no way I can get close to her. in fact I'm really afraid to offense her by my behaviour. there are hundreds of reasons I can't do it. so I suffer in silence wishing she knew and being afraid of this at the same time.

I've noticed extreme differences in the physical contact between people. Some want to shake hands using a very soft, weak grip. Others want to embrace you as though you were just returning from the battlefront as a soldier. I tend to be a huggy-feely type but then I'm an emotional musician.

In my experience it's perfectly normal!
Fortunately all my friends are hug-friendly folk, so if I ever want to hug, then they're always willing to help me out :)
