You don't realize other things too. If you don't know what rent is then you can't appreciate living rent free. If you don't realize that people take care of you then it's nothing to you. But you DO still feel pain and other negative things.
If you live in a group home they most certainly can have a no sex rule. Plenty of places have that rule for normal people as well. And how good in bed do you think retards are anyway? Many of them have serious hygeine issues too. Yuck.
