Is it normal to want to be the person you have a crush on?

First of all, I'm a girl who is attracted to guys. I've noticed that when I have a crush on someone, not only am I infatuated with them in the traditional sense, but I also desire to actually BE that person. This only seems to happen with crushes on fictional characters (which I guess is another issue) not with crushes on real guys.

So I guess that leads to yet another issue - I'm attracted to males but often imagine myself to be or wish I were male.

Is It Normal?

  • I'm bisexual, and I often feel this way. Oftentimes when I'm attracted to a man, I feel like I want to be a man myself, I guess because I see the particular man/being masculine as so attractive. And the same for a woman I'm attracted to, I want to be female/feminine.

  • I once fell in love with David Sylvian, although at the time I thought he was someone else. I thought he was my age. I thought that online I was talking to someone who looked that gorgeous.

After I found out it was David Sylvian and not some loser online, I loosened up... and decided that I wanted to look like him now. I cut my hair just like him and have never regretted it (and I'm a girl).

  • You probably think you are too good to be so you want to experience yourself from a different view, not too much normal but whatever
