Is it normal to want to be hugged by anyone?

When I was little, my mum (yes thats how its spelled) and dad were not really very caring. I never got hugged, kissed or praised and I was always an outcast at school. All I really want is for someone to hug me and mean it. At first, I just wanted it to be someone I know, but now I am willing to hug ANYONE who is willing to hug me. For some reason, no matter how many people I hug, I just don't feel satisfied. IS IT SO BAD FOR ME TO WANT TO BE HUGGED!? DX

Is It Normal?

  • when I was a kid I also went threw that. I too like it when people hug me though I never accept it unless my friends force it on me. (I dont know how to be honest) I think the reason you want more and more hugs and the hunger keeps growing is because the hunger wont stop untill you meet that one person who can make you feel as though you've obtained thousands of hugs in one! Satisfaction will come when its someone really precious to you. Untill then hug away and try to please yourself with these lil snacks. c:

  • It's normal. You were deprived of affection when you where younger so, now you seek to find it from others. I'm in a similar situation. My family isn't really the affectionate type so, I find myself trying to find it in others. I want to be hugged and cuddled with. The last hug I received from a friend was a few years ago. Those hugs made me feel appreciated, but hugs can't last forever. Find someone who will hug you and make you happy.

  • You really want a Hug from your ma & pa, or a hug from someone who really loves you and is not afraid to let you know.

when I hug her indoors, i lift her off her feet, and hug her for a good half minute and concentrate on why i love her when i do it, then i let her get back on with the cooking and cleaning.

  • Sounds normal and fine to me.
Such has been the case that people who have been deprived of affection as children grow up to be unaffectionate themselves, the opposite can certainly be true.

My husband was not given much affection as a child, and he one of the most affectionate people I have ever met. It's normal and it happens.

  • Well, one point to you for making me genuinely worry for your future, even though I'm 99% sure this is a tricky, tricky lie. :P

      • I still don't know whether this is real or not. :P On the offchance, hugging is good, but sometimes it leads to kissing, and then naughty hugging and kissing and you don't want to end up so addicted to that, that people use you for it. And, worse, you let them because you need the attention.

I'm all for hugging. I'd hug anyone for any length of time. Have to be careful it's not a gateway hug, though. ;)
