IIN to want to be a Security Guard

  • Don't know where you live, but I was a security guard for a brief period following graduation from university.

    I look back on it as one of the lowest points in my life.

    If college is a possibility for you, then you're obviously not stupid, but my experience is that security work doesn't tend to attract the sharpest people. Working with dim people is never fun.

    In my opinion, ambition is over-rated, so I can understand your attitude. Far too many people believe that life has to be about being seen as successful and powerful and having enough money to buy a big house, a new car every year, and all the latest electronic gadgets. Having a low-stress job that doesn't make constant demands on your time and energy 24/7, and pays you enough to have the things you need in life does have its advantages.

    You're also young, and a lot of people don't figure out what they really want to do with their lives until they're in their twenties or even later. It's not a great idea to go to college just because it's what your family expects you to do and it's what everyone in your social circle does.
