Is it normal to want to be a different race?

Hi, so I'm 19. I know this is weird, but I wish I wasn't white. I don't hate my race, I just see people of other races and they all seem to have some type of community, something I've never really had I guess. It's just that white people aren't seen as cool and it's not like that I can just connect with someone on the bias of them just being white. Maybe my life would have been easier if I was born a different race. I'd have easier time making friends.

You are just a product of the anti-White message that is woven into everything we see and hear in the media. It is sad that so many young people feel the way you do.

This. Any time you focus too much on white people, somebody will call you a racist or a white supremacist.

I think it's normal to want something that seems like it will fill a hole in your life. I never wanted to be anything other than what I am, which is white, but I would definitely look at some people who had more of an "ethnic identity" than I did and wish that I had what they seemed to. Then I started playing in a Celtic folk rock band and decided to claim Celtic as part of my identity. Found a lot of welcoming, warmhearted people that way.

I guess it's normal. I'm Hispanic and I wish I didn't look white. People never believe me when I say I'm Puerto Rican. People have gotten hostile with me over it for their dumb little reasons. Lol

    I dunno, I prefer a non-collectivist culture.

well believe it or not, not all black people know each other, just like not all mexicans know each other. being the same race as someone doesn't mean you have anything in common with them. and maybe minorities prefer to stick together because white people usually don't like associating with anyone who doesn't look like them.
