    It's a scare tactic. He's hoping that by threatening you he'll get what he wants.

    You gave him no assurances of money back and it broke. Personally I'd tell him "Tough Cookies, Champ" because legally he doesn't have a leg to stand on.

      1) You don't get warranties on second hand purchases
      2) If he could afford a lawyer why is he buying used ipods?

      If he keeps threatening you call the police.
