Next girlfriend he has after you, he'll tell you were crazy and tried to kill him too. Pretty much guarantee it. Anybody who talks up crazy exes a lot is just using that as a way to make them oh so interesting and desireable without having the actual substance to back it up. Some few people do have the bad luck of having ONE crazy ex but people whose all exes are crazy? Nope. That's a red flag. That person has the problems, not all their exes.
Actually not all of his exs we're crazy. He's dated a LOT of people over the years. Just two of them were nuts. The rest were either mutual terms or he just flat out admitted he was too picky. The one he had the longest run with fucked all his friends behind his back.
The first crazy one got crazy stalky after they broke up because she was "moving" and didn't want to lose him. She tried to stab him in a wooded area trail that's now a block of stores.
The second one was someone he met a few years later. He knew she was stalking him, but at the time he was desperate and single, so he decided "why not?". When he realised it wasn't going to work out he tried ending it in a subway and she tried to stab him in public.
What it was is since he has depression and anxiety, he sought out women like him because he figured they'd understand him.
A thing I could see as a "red flag" in our relationship is how picky he is over dumb shit though. He can be a total diva sometimes and he whines about how "unfashionable" I can be sometimes. Our last argument was over the type of socks I was wearing. He's learning to deal with it.
My only concern comes from having been there and it's so obvious to me that he's a big fat liar, I would urge you to not waste more time on this fool. 5 years and a marriage and maybe a kid later and you might finally wake up to his bullshit but by then it's too hard to leave. See it for what it is, he's a lying sack of shit drama queen and it's better to cut your losses now rather than get dragged further into it.
I bet my life nobody ever tried to stab him, let alone 2 people. How dumb can you be to buy those stories?
I'm sorry you experienced that. He actually hates lying since the last person he dated before me slept with everyone he knew. He has even told me he used to treat everyone like shit, realised that, and has worked hard to change. He's basically a submissive bitch to everyone now. Everyone steps all over this guy and he doesn't listen to me when I tell him to be assertive.
I also know another dude who was stalked multiple times because all he does is smile and treat everyone equally at the Walmart he works at, so I really don't find any of it hard to believe.
Though If I were to break up with him it would be over how he over-whines about things like how I look unfashionable sometimes(hair in a ponytail, hats, the sock thing I mentioned, etc).
