I don't really know, I read a book once and one of the characters was called Monty and I just thought it would be a cute name for a grey parrot XD Random but that's my reason lol XD
My experience of parrot owners have been losers, loners, ugly, fat, smelly, etc. perhaps its just my experience. I was only pulling your leg, im not really the ideal specimen either.
Is it normal to want a parrot as a pet ,

Why does it matter how old you are or whatever?
I'm 23, have barely any friends, not good looking really, career pfft and I intend to have a grey parrot called Monty when I'm older XD
I'm being serious btw about all that, I do want a grey parrot called Monty.

XD is an emoticon, kind of like the equivalent of grinning and closing eyes in real life.
And as for your experience, no, social anxiety, eye of the beholder, again eye of the beholder and no.
