Is it normal to unite your blood with your friends blood?

So, a few days ago I was joking around with one of my best friends about my fascination of blood and then she told me that she and one of her friends used to cut their thumbs and then unite their blood. I kind stared at her and was like, "..gurl...wut..?.." and then she told me it was to symbolize how she and her friend were like sisters and so I thought she was kidding of course (since she was giggling while she spoke). However, she wasn't. Now she wants to unite her blood with mine too... Idk I think blood is awesome but I find this activity quite strange and unhygienic.. what do you think?

    It was normal back in the pre-AIDS era for kids to do stuff like that, but these days, no. We know too much.

    Do NOT do it. A relative contracted Hepatitis from getting someone's blood on him. It eventually killed him.

    A) you could get an infection from the blade or getting the cut dirty. Also, Tetanus.

    B) you don't know what she has (not just AIDS, but Mono or anything else. And stuff can be passed down from parents.)

    C) she doesn't know what you have (even "just" the start of the flu.)

    D) its stupid and symbolic only. Get a friendship bracelet.

    I've been hearing about these type of things since I was a child. I remember when I was younger two girls in school did this during lunchtime and everyone saw it. I don't think doing these things are normal, but it might be usual and meaningful to other people.

    Yikes, that's a bit much. If I asked my friends to unite blood with me they'd probably laugh their heads off. Although, so would I if anyone asked me that. It sounds pretty strange to me.
