Is it normal to try and get used to other genres?

The reason I ask is because I only listen to loads of metal and recently I'm trying to listen to other genres for e.g. hip hop, rap, EDM and so on.

I'm really trying to get used to other genres but I'm finding it a bit difficult at the same time. Maybe it's the type that I tried listening to.

Yeah. I find some great bands that way. I think it's great to always try to expand your musical tastes. Especially as a musician you want to explore and research different types of music. You could definitely try listening to noise rock, math rock, art pop, shoegaze, etc. I mean if you listen to metal a lot of Nu Metal crosses over to hip hop and maybe you could get into it that way? anyways have fun exploring because you may find a new favorite genre.

Ok, apparently they say that to do listen to something is like going to a new beginning more like a new adventure.

It really is. you don't even know how many potential favourite bands out there are hiding in obscure genres and niches.
