Is it normal to think your friend is always lying to you?

I have a friend who i think lies to me when the is going to hang out with people i dont like. There have been several occasions where i have caught her in a lie but let her go on beileiving she has succesfully lied to me. I hate being lied to because it makes me lose my trust in people. Is it normal to think that everything excuse she gives me is a lie? She has done it so many times i feel paranoid all the time. Also, how should i aproach her on this? How do i tell her to stop?

    What if you find out you are right and she is hanging out with the people you don't want her to hang out with. Then what? Will you tell her she is not allowed to be friends with those people?

      its her chioce. all i can do is rub it in her face with a big fat "I TOLD YOU SO". and she complains about these people A LOT to me with a little "dont tell anyone i told you this"

    if you don't like it when people lie to you, you should learn to spot a liar with accuracy. then when you are lied to you will know it and you will feel confident in not believing them or even feel strong enough to accuse them of lying to you. start researching it on the internet.

    ^^ great point. There may be a reason your friend feels the need to lie...if they even are. Take a step back and review how your behavior may be influencing that.

    why do you think that she has to lie to you about being friends with people you dont like? do you make a big deal about them and tell her not to hang around with them because you dont like them?

      i dont. i could care less who she hangs ot with as long as she doesnt find the need to lie to me about it. several occasions she has said she was hanging wth people i dont particulary care for but i dont lose sleep over it nor do i get upset. What makes me upset is being lied to when there is no reason for it. i guess what really gets under my skin is that she complains about how these people are annoying, stupid, or just plain depressing, yet when she hangs out with them, she finds the need to lie to me about it. its like she thinks ill get mad at her but she should know by now that i really dont care

    Well it's a her, so I'm not sure. But if it was a him, I'd say he probably does cocaine, his name is probably Mitch, and he probably does lie alot.

    Often times it's the liar who thinks everyone's lying to them.

    I'm not sure if that's the case with you but generally it can be assumed that someone isn't lying to you 24/7.

      i try not to lie. its just that i am good at sniffing out liers because ever since high school started, its become like a sixth sence. and im pretty sure after the first 3 times i caught her lieing, i have a right to think she always lies
