Is it normal to think this way???

I do not hate humans, but I absolutely despise human nature.. I don't think its possible to love unconditional.. We love what we value, & whst we value is conditional, I think .. Our nature is to only care about our own needs.. Our own gain... Love may produce selfless acts, but underlying those acts is selflessness.. All our actions are to benefit ourselves.. Sacrificial love isn't real...

That may explain it better than I do....

  • I find your level of pessimism offensive.

  • You are right, for this time of age. It's like the world just entered Ice Age again, where everyone is so cold.

I think we are generally un-selfish.

But if we get down to the very core of a human, yes we are selfish.

Everything we do carries an advantage for ourselves. Even from making someone happy. We are making them happy because we want to see them happy.

I wanted to write a doctrine on this, and you have just rekindled that idea for me.

It depends on how you were raised and taught. I have done a lot for my bf and he's done a lot in return. He is fearless and has said many times that since I saved his life, he is willing to take a bullet for me (not figuratively either). Of course I would never let him. You should never feel like you owe someone something as great as your own life, but love does make you do and say stupid things. But some people DO lead with emotions, not logic. It's not right 99% of the time, but it is a way of thought.

I often feel similarly about humans, but I try not to dwell on it too much. What gives me hope are people who do carry out selfless acts; even risking their own lives to rescue someone else (e.g. a stranger carrying a wheel-chair bound woman out of a burning building). Accounts like this show that our selfish tendencies can be overcome. No one really knows how they would react in an emergency.
We can't change others, but we can change ourselves. Have you thought about getting involved in a good cause? Even if it's just an hour per week, it might make you feel better about things.

You sound like a very cold person. If you want to feel differently, loosen up. If you are fine as you are, then I have nothing further to add and you have no problem.
