Is it normal to think this site desperately needs a block feature?

Shouldn't there be a way to block specific users from commenting and voting on your own posts? Maybe it would help the site retain new users since it could shut down the trolls and abusive jackasses. The management could also see who is blocked and use that info to ban individuals who have numerous blocks against them. It would at least make things a lot less fun and easy for the shitheads and trolls.

Thoughts?

    I completely agree with you. It would also be great if they could implement some sort of email verification feature to keep people from constantly creating new accounts.

      Yes! It shouldn't be too hard to require email verification. There's very little incentive for new users to stick around because of the trolls and jerks and the fact that you can only comment once a day with a new account. The karma thing and post limits were supposed to thin out trolls but it doesn't help much and only really hurts new honest users.
