Is it normal to think that there's no hope for america's future?

The more is said about the upcoming elections and the candidates, the less I think it's reasonable to have any hope that things won't get worse. On one hand, there's Obama, who could be the poster child for weak presidents who didn't have good ideas in the first place and couldn't get even those through. On the other hand, most of the people who could run against him believe that if we pray hard enough we'll fix things with magic. Sure, there's some Republican candidates that can at least give the impression they have some sense, like Ron Paul and Gary Johnson, but the filthy fucking Christians wouldn't nominate those semi-libertarians who believe the government shouldn't be based on religion. Hell, I'd like to see one of those completely out of left field candidates like McMillan or Sharkey get a foothold, I mean they couldn't possibly make things worse.

Sure, there's third parties, but they could never win. Maybe that's a good thing, because some of those parties, like the Prohibition Party or the Green Party, are crazy. Or you've got the idealistic Libertarians, but no one can take them seriously because they're the only ones oblivious to the fact that their philosophies would take things in the exact opposite direction most people want them to go. Don't the very words "personal rights" make you cringe? Be honest, we know that almost anyone who uses a phrase like that is full of it. And independents, are they really anything other than attention whores?

And it doesn't matter who the candidates are anyway, because we'll never find out what's really going on with the media in this country. I don't know whether to laugh or cry at the people who say "dude, Faux News is SO biased"—hey dipshit, look up how "faux" is pronounced sometime—and then say that MSNBC is the only source of unbiased news. Idiot, all of them are biased, you just don't see it because their biases are the same as your own and you're too oblivious to know what your own leanings are. You never think "I agree with that, but it's an opinion and shouldn't be presented as the truth." No, when people tell you what you want to hear, then you "know" it's true. You aren't thinking for yourself, you're just being an asshole about doing the exact same thing you say the other person is doing. Here's a news flash for you, every news network has the exact same agenda, and it's never in your favor. But we all believe the ridiculous stuff they say, because all of them are saying the same general thing. For example, earlier this year people really thought Donald Trump was going to run as a Republican. Trump, a Democrat who donates to the Democratic Party and its causes, and with an intelligence in the genius range so he was obviously too smart to take what he was saying seriously. Do people think these things out? This was the most transparent way possible to boost ratings, yet only a few Americans could put 2 and 2 together.

Does anyone else just not want to live on this planet anymore?

Is It Normal?

  • To dom180: I hardly think grades in college are any indicator of future success in the White House. What a lame thing to criticize Perry for. Um...have you analyzed Texas's economy at all? Its booming unlike the rest of the country where Obama's "spend like the worlds ending" policies have left us with chronic depression and unemployment. Obama is the worst President we could have elected.

I agree with the poster, our country's demographics coupled with a total blind reliance on talking heads on tv means the future of our country is in the hands of total dipshits. But hell, we are still have it better than the rest of the world...at least for now.

  • Macncheez the US doesn't have it better than the rest if the world and hasn't for a long time. The last thing it needs is another dipshit republican fucking up what's left of the economy.

  • People who don't choose either side complain when something goes, but contribute nothing in an attempt to make the world a better place.

  • I would have listened to your case if it was not so obviously hateful to Christians. Its kind of like if I would make a post against Obama saying "Why Black people suck for being black". Once you do that everything you say is worthless. Sorry to tell you. You cant justify your reasoning with "They suck because of religion/lack of, Gender, Race, sexuality". So you just lost your case do to extreme prejudice.

  • No one candidate is going to appeal to all of the things that you or anyone else wants for the country. Thats why the popular majority gets behind one person that they feel best matches all of the criteria they distinguish as beneficial to the country. Thats the way its always been, and thats the way it always will be. Doomed? Probably not. I think one way of measuring the problems of the united states would be to take into account all of the personal liberties that have been revoked over recent years. In a country founded under principles of freedom, personal liberties are a huge factor. No one man can change all that but i only see one whos willing to try (yes ive looked at them all). Ill give you a hint: His name rhymes with "Bon Tall"...:)

  • Watch the movie "Idiocracy".

It's a comedy, but clearly shows where we are (America and the rest of the developed world), and where we are going.

  • If NObama wins, America will lose big time. I doubt the country could last through another four years of being driven into the ground by a smug, arrogant, incompetent, idiot and his socialist policy.

    BACHMANN 2012!

  • I really do hate most politicians, and when I look at US politics specifically it makes me want to cry, the sheer stupidity of some people that get involved in it. From what I have heard recently, Rick Perry, a Republican, Texan, hard-line Christian nutter who got appauling grades in high-school (remind you of anyone?) is a dead-cert for the White House. It makes me glad to live in the UK, but to be honest it's barely any better here.
