that's not true. how can one measure contribution? most of what i contribute to the world is invisible. i also have a job programming dies that produce commercial building products, parts for cars, airplanes, heavy machinery, computers, and basically anything that can be made by pushing hot aluminum through a hole. the things that make the modern world go round. there are dishwashers that make more money than i do. but i don't mind because i get to make my own schedule and take liberties.
