Is it normal to think that having a boyfriend is a hassle?

I'm 19 and still single. I often think that having a boyfriend is a hassle and a waste of time. Because I feel like I'll lose my freedom. But, I still wonder how it feels like to have one. Is that normal?

  • If you find the right person, which can take time, then it wont be a hassle, all commitments are a hassle but it is just part of life, a healthy relationship will enable you to have freedom. It's trial and error

  • Do something in between like dating. That way you enjoy the activity ( a date) and companionship w/o all the relationship & emotional commitment stuff that can be just hooey when that is not what you want.

Has dating gone out of vogue? It would be terrible for younger people to feel they have to be looking for and with "the one!" instead of circulating and enjoying themselves.

  • In my opinion, totally normal. I recently had a boyfriend and although at the start it was amazing and wonderful, the spark faded and we broke up.

Having a boyfriend can be time consuming and emotionally draining since both of you rely on each other to an extent but I believe that if it's real, it'll happen.

It's okay to not be ready for a relationship, I know I lost my freedom dating that guy. Just don't worry too much, you're young and have plenty of time to date.
