It's kinda complex really. If you look back at the 50's, almost every band/singer that came out was a brief one hit wonder save for a couple, so essentially you could say the same thing about the good 'ol days. Out of all modern music history, there's really only very, very few acts that are remembered even as short as a few years after they debut and even fewer that last beyond a decade. So, basically all modern music is only at best 10% great and eternal, it's mostly filler.
