"Is it a crim to inject some humor into the situation?"
Well, I did distinguish between appreciating race themed humour and finding race hate funny. The latter; I believe, is NOT funny and should not be treated lightly.
"Terrible things happen everyday, if you can't laugh about it, you arn't going to get very far. "
That's a nice concept, i'll remember to mention it to the next Pakistani chap who's face I have to stich up from the racist beating he's suffered. I'm sure he'll appreciate the sentiment.
I agree that hate crimes are to be taken seriously. Thinking it's "ok" would be retarded.
For a man who has been attacked simply for the colour of his skin, I probly would say that. Yes he's not going to find it funny and he's never going to let it go. Pride brocken and confidence destroyed. Thats why he "must" laugh it off. There is no sense dwelling on the shit in the world. If he can find any humor in the situation, any at all. Then the situation is eased. Botteling things up and/or getting depressed about shit, isn't an option. Or so I've been taught. When a person close to me died, thats when I learnt to laugh. He died of a heart attack and though I respected this man, there was a minute silence and I made the comment: "I thought his heart was to lazy to attack him?"
We laughed, but cried soon after. We continued...
I thought and still think laughter is the greatest cure. So when shit goes down, laugh it up, no matter how hard it may be.
(I realise my story has nothing to do with race hate, but finding the humor in shit, goes for everything.)
BTW Thank you for the job you do. Not sure what it is, but it's seems like a job thats more than a contribution to the human race. Keep it up.
Is it normal to think racism is funny?
