Is it normal to think political correctness has gone too far?

Just what the title says. We seem to have lost our humor. Afraid to say anything (other than this site!) to people for fear of offending. What are your thoughts on this? Is it normal to think this?

Is It Normal?
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

  • I like to break that trend when it makes sense. I don't like being rude but, when it goes too far it's funny to break the mold.

For example, If somebody is trying to explain to me who a coworker is, and they stay away from their most defining trait, I'll come right out ans day it; "The black guy?"

I mean sure, it isn't all he is but he's the only black guy on the staff for crying out loud. Why piss around the pot?

  • Yes, it has gone far to the point to where it has become dangerous. Politicians have used political correctness to stray away from the real issues and use it for political gain. No one is politically correct to avoid hurting people's feelings, it's all about self image and nothing more.

  • I had to cut off my long hair to be able to work at my new job. I'm a guy. It hella sucked. They said it wouldn't look good to the customers. But they wouldn't see it because when I work I keep it under my hat. What's so funny about it is they have a manager their with straight up yellow teeth. Ahh politics if a man has long hair its not acceptable but its impolite to go up to the person with yellow teeth and politely ask them have they tried this or that to clean them. Also its okay if a girl has long or short hair.WTF!?

  • Well I say what I want to and I keep it real. Most people that I;m around don't understand it and take sit as I'm being rude, or a hater, or have a bad attitude or negative. I don't use slang and don't curse only when necessary, but I say what I want to say but I don't go out of my way to offend anyone and I do have manners. I would say look at the crowd that you're around and see if ti will be okay to say certain things and if it is, then go for it if not then keep it to yourself.

  • I agree, society spends too much time on not trying to offend people. But on the other hand, if something offends you, then you have every right to bitch and moan about it until someone changes it.
