Is it normal to think people who want a job are losers?

  • It's fine to work for yourself, but it's not for everyone. For example, some people have a passion for occupations where that's not really possible, such as aerospace engineering or math research. Also, some people have difficulty running their own businesses, either because they find it easier to be given tasks than to manage their own, or because they're physically or mentally disabled. Some people, like me, have medical expenses (or a spouse or child with medical expenses) which pretty much require an employee insurance plan to be affordable (individual health insurance plans are generally shittier than group ones).

I'm really, really glad my fiancé has a steady job, because we can afford my medication and doctor's appointments because of it. The fact that we know that he gets paid regularly (which often isn't the case with freelance work, art, etc) means I don't have to ration my medication like I used to.

In conclusion, if you think scientists, people who support their disabled spouses, mathematicians, and astronauts are losers, I can't help you.
