Is it normal to think people who name their son dick are arseholes?

I mean really? Why would you name your son that? There are plently of other names, so I don't see why people do that. There's a kid in my math class who's name is Dick and he gets made fun off for it everyday. You just know your son will get made fun of. So I wanted to know if i'm the only one who thought that people who names their son that are just assholes.

Is It Normal?

  • You know what's even worse? Naming your daughter "Dick".

    • Or naming your son Dick and your daughter Fanny.

  • Dick is just a nickname for Richard, isn't it? I don't think there's anything wrong with naming your son Richard, because if they don't like the nickname 'Dick', there are other others to choose from (eg. Rick, Richie)

  • I met a kid called Gay once, and I just couldn't help but think what kind of crap he must put up with at school. I think parents underestimate the immaturity of kids at school these days, thinking they won't make fun of a kid called Dick or Gay something like that.

  • I wouldn't name my kid Richard anyway, but it's not as bad as the parents who call their kids Lullaby or Versace or Ceiling Fan or whatever.

  • I agree. Naming your kid anything that's a innuendo is a bad idea. It's pretty mean. I mean how could the parents not know the meaning of "Dick".

I once knew a boy named, Richard, and either people or his parents would call him "Dick" in front of everyone. I could tell he hated it and I think he had some mood swings too.... At the time, I was a little kid and I'm not sure if I knew what a "Dick" was or not. I'm now much older and I know that it was very rude of his parents to name him that. Even as a nickname, it's kind of rude. I guess this is what name changes are for or they could try to insist that people refer to them only as "Richard". I doubt people would listen if they were told that.....

  • Yeah ive often thought this but id guess the people who named them that are the type that can hear the words..wet,dump,slide,tight,cram,moist and words like that and not flinch.they just dont get it im sure.but yeah stupid to give that name.just hope their last name isnt Enhand or Inyoo or Jacour or Kumslotonu or ok you get the point....god forbid if their last name was Head!

  • there's people in southeast asia with the name "wang"
how do you think they feel?

    Comment Hidden ( show )
      -
    • Yeah, but in southeast Asia, I don't think "wang" used as a slang term for penis, so it's only funny to westerners. To be a person named Wang in a predominately English speaking country - yeah, that would suck.

  • It's possible that they named their son after Robin, Batman's sidekick.

  • There's plenty of names like that out there. Also family names have them. Look at Bruce Dickinson, it's a billion times worse than being named Dick.
