Is it normal to think people around you are psychic

Like, I'll be sitting at my desk thinking really weird thoughts about anything but then I kinda get this feeling that the person next to me can read my thoughts. I know that they can't but just the thought that they can freaks me out. Does anyone else get this feeling?

Is It Normal?

  • Happens to me ALL THE TIME!! I'm a very paranoid person. It sometimes stops me from doing things I want to do. It really sucks. :/

  • Hate to break it to you, but I'm pretty sure that that is a marker for schizophrenia--to imagine scenarios that do not exist and to genuinely believe in bizarre things.

  • Totally normal. But I suggest letting loose a little. You seem to care way too much about what your peers think about you, when they're too caught up in thinking about how they appear to everyone else.

  • Are you thinking thoughts you would be embarassed to express verbally?

Or are they just very casual, mild thoughts?

Either way, an explanation could range from simple guilt, paranoia, or just a sensitivity to the energy of other people around you. For instance, you may have a sense when someone is about to start talking or is wanting to talk to or approach you.

When I am working on very long briefs I will often put on my ipod and just start trying to focus. Sometimes I will get this odd feeling like someone is watching me, so I will take my earbuds out and turn around towards my door to see if anyone is there. Within a few seconds someone walks in or they were standing there and they say, "Oh, I was about to come tap you on the shoulder" or "I've been wanting to talk to you..." So, it may just be a sixth sense that we as humans have.

    Or, paranoia.
