Is it normal to think overpopulation will necessitate eugenics?
With the total human population already exceeding lower estimates of the earth's carrying capacity and approaching the absolute limit at an alarming rate, I think people will be forced to accept that reproduction is a privilege, not a right. NOT for "genetic purity" or anything like that (dysgenics is so entrenched that what little progress can be made on that front isn't worth the civil liberties abuses) but because the sheer number of people will deplete the planet's resources. If huge changes aren't made, humanity will destroy itself and probably take all life with it. Right now, everyone's ignoring this problem because they can't swallow what's necessary to fix it. They'd destroy the entire human race just to preserve the fraction of it that otherwise wouldn't be born. But I think as the problems become more urgent that will change. People will accept restrictions on bringing life into this world, or in a couple centuries there won't be any life on this world.
