Hell to the no! He could be poisonous and plotting behind your back. Even worse, he could be related to Aragog! You need protection like Venus Flytrap or some other carnivorous plant (they're very endearing and make nice "pets") or some manmade weapons.
Is it normal to think of a spider as a pet and talk to him and stuff?
