Yes of course it is. We fear and hate anyone who might potentially pose a threat, and if they're different and unknown to us, then they could potentially pose a threat.
Wanting to date within your own race is also perfectly natural, because generally, anything that seems more familiar will appear less threatening and so seem more appealing.
It makes sense from an evolutionary perspective too, primitive people stick to their little herds/packs or whatever because they're social animals that have a better chance of survival that way. Other little herds/packs could potentially pose a threat.
