Yes this is totally normal. Everyone should be equal and no one should be preferred over someone else due to superficial things like race or gender. But society likes to complicate things and colleges feel that affirmative action allows minorities greater opportunities to attain financial success in the future. It's a foolhardy attempt to reverse the long standing social and economic inequities that have plagued minorities. Affirmative action is well intentioned but poorly executed. You have every right to maintain your dignity as a human being and individual and proclaim that you are just as diverse as anyone else. Martin Luther King Jr said, "I have a dream my children will grow up in a country where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character". We have desecrated his sentiments. Same thing with feminists, they don't want equality, they want to feel superior to men. We cannot let these injustices continue
