Men deal with external pain better (getting punched, cut, etc.) and women deal with internal pain better (giving birth, etc.). There are actually some good scholarly articles and papers concerning just this phenomenon and the explanation I gave above. They argue that it is evolutionary. It at least seems plausible to me
