I feel the same about killing them for no reason (or no reason other than annoyance). But not when they are actually harmful, or when insects you're terrified of gets into your home (in my case wasps and ants that bite). Letting them be there would just be unthinkable at that point and so is getting close up myself. Outside Id just let them be. Just because you arent scared of it doesn't mean those who do have phobias against them can just "turn it off".
Either way you cant even live without killing something, directly or indirectly, even producing plant foods requires the killing of pests to protect the fields. Driving or even walking kills insects by accident and so on
