Is it normal to think I look good, but then check myself?

  • Hello 12 year old girl,

Are you aware that your spelling and use of grammar within this story is atrocious? How about you stop checking yourself out and check your damn spelling instead.

    Sincerely,
    Mirror.

    • I'm not a 12 year old girl and everyone think I am because I have horrible spelling 13 years in school doesn't always make you the best spellers if your teachers assume you should know how to spell by the time your 18. And I have gotten better but spelling isn't my strong point and I hate when people point it out because why do you care so much about my spelling as long as you can understand what I'm saying.

      • Well, spelling is hardly my strong point either, seeing as i'm Dyslexic.
The only difference between you and me is the fact that i'm willing to put the effort in to ensure that what i'm typing is spelt correctly. It doesn't take a genius to use spell check now, does it?

        • Yea I have ADHD and I have improved with my spelling immensely and no it doesn't take a genius to use spell check but I don't think isitnormal has spell check. And if you have dyslexia you really shouldn't be commenting on my spelling it isn't really fair to do that. If you have trouble spelling why in the world would you criticize others on there spelling?

          • Because, unlike you, i'm not using my 'disability' as an excuse. Copy and paste is easy enough to do, and if you can't be bothered with that, Google Chrome has spell check built into it. There are tools made to help me through my mistakes, as there are for you. I'm just willing to seek them out.

            • you don't know me at all don't act like you do. I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was 7 an I used to spell thing like com (come), lick (like), tuk (took) and have LEARNED myself through practice over and over again I love to write and I DO NOT use my ADHD as an excuse and I HATE when people call it a disability or a disorder it isn't but I'm not going to use spell check because spell check is cheating myself I am not learning anything and I don't know if that's the right way to spell it on spell check. I look it up in a dictionary if I don't know how to spell someone. But I don't have that lonely and pathetic of a life to comment on someone's spelling online. It really is pathetic.

              • Actually, my original comment was calling you childish and vain. Just sayin'.

Like you said, you don't know me. So what gives YOU the right to tell me what i can and cannot correct people on whether or not my condition affects me? You have the same amount of right as i do. Using spell check isn't cheating myself out of it, because i know how to spell, I just confuse the letters around. Plus, i don't have a lonely, pathetic life. It's sociable and exciting. Just... My friends are my age and educated.
