Your social skills will pick up in time, but I've found that it' all about knowing how to get your mindset. If you think like a loser, you'll look like a loser. People can read you better than you think, just as you can read others. Don't just think about it, be about it. Dress the part, groom yourself, and you'll start to feel less like a loser. Your body language is probably part of the problem too, try to work on that too. You may not notice it, because alot of the things tend to be subtle, especially to yourself.
With all this being said, don't copy someone else, b/c that will turn people away. Do what you do because you want to do it, have your own swagger, invent your own definition of cool. And keep in mind that no matter what, there will always be someone who doesn't like you... but who cares?
Don't expect anything to happen overnight, it will take time. If you change too fast, people will notice for the worst. If you change subtly, people will pick up in a more positive manner.
IIN to think I am destined to be a loser?

You're as much a loser as you feel like one.
