Is it normal to think discrimination is always gonna exist

I think trying to stop discrimination (in general), it's pointless. Pretty much every comment or opinion about someone can be considered discrimination in some level. For example:
person 1: ew gay people.
person 2: shut up homophobic.
Person 1 is openly discriminating gay people, person 2 tries to stop the discirmination by calling person 1 a homophobic, which means person 2 is discriminating person 1 for the way he/she thinks.
Another example:
Magazine only with skinny models.
Person: REAL WOMEN HAVE CURVES!
Just as the first example, both are discriminating. One is discriminating fat people, the other skinny people, but still both are just as wrong.

I think I made my point clear. What I mean is I believe it's pretty much unavoidable, and many of the campaigns trying to stop it are just making things worse. Do you agree or not?

Is It Normal?

  • Being called homophobic is not descrimination.. It's just what they are. And they wear that title proudly.

  • Of course it's going to exist forever.
Generations of degenerates, will never end. Hate will exist as long as human beings are 'alive'. Death is the only end to hatred =]

  • Of course it will and this is the reason why. People do not use their minds as much as they should. They base most actions on emotions apposed to logic. This is why we have destruction, corruption, and war. For the fact someone was too stupid to come to a reasonable compromise. People do not compromise they battle. So someone must always be at the bottom. This is sad and it does not work well. So their is no use in feeling petty for the minority group. Since that minority will wait till they are the majority to do the same damn thing back. With all the morons in the world of course!

  • Everyone judges everybody else on some basis or another and anybody that says anything else is absolutely full of it.

  • Prejudice may or may not always exist- I think its becoming less and less prevalent as the world globalizes- but either way, your examples are not valid.

A gay person telling a homophobe to shut up after the homophobe just insulted him isn't discriminating. If the gay person said, for example, "you're conservative so you must be homophobic" then it would be discriminating. But if someone looks upon you with disgust and you tell them to shove it, thats not discriminating.

Promoting tolerance, self-acceptance and overall rational behavior do not cause reverse discrimination. However, ignorant and confused people often react to discrimination by using reverse-discrimination, which is where I think its possible that prejudice will always exist...

  • Yes discrimination of some sort in society in unavoidable.

That's not a reason to avoid promoting positive change in society. If a particular group is being persecuted against and that persecution is contrary to the general population's code of morality and ethics, or the code of morality and ethics to which they aspire, then it's justifiable to try and stop that persecution.

Not all campaigners or protestors get it right, so I agree that some exacerbate the problem, typically through positive discrimination; attempting to counteract discrimination of one type with another type which is advantageous to the group once disadvantaged, but disadvantageous to the group once advantaged. I wouldn't say this is more often the case though.

  • As you move through life you'll discover that the only true difference between the liberator and the tyrant is in the realm of ideas.

Both oppress certain groups, and both require that others do as they do.

History truly is nothing more than a perspective agreed upon.
