Is it normal to think damn, i wish i did something more interesting?

Do you believe people should follow their dreams? Or do you think people should play it safe and do something that will give them a job, with a good wage but not as interesting as their dream?

What I study at the moment isn't fulfilling me. It is pretty much guaranteed there will be a job for me at the end of it but I just cannot see myself doing that. The thought has started to depress me a little because all I can imagine is a career of boredom, stress and and having to be all professional.

The thing I really want to do can be learnt part time, along side my studies. But once I have the skills and things start going well, I will have to choose. Take the massive risk, and follow my dream, or play it safe and carry on studying. What do you think? Do you have any stories like this? Any advice?

  • The man who gambles can win much, but the man who risks little stands to gain little.

There is no such thing as a safe triumph or a lasting victory that comes without tremendous danger.

So get out there and do something interesting. At least you'll have stories to tell :)

      • But the tragedy is that we're not a creature born into life; we're a creature existing in search of life.

Most people will die without ever knowing what it meant to truly live.

At the age of 27, I'm a complete fuck up, in the eye's of society, no job and little education.

I followed my dreams and remained true to myself, my dream isn't dead yet tho...

What I don't have in security and material thing's I make up for with amazing memories, friendships and the feeling of being true to myself.

I wish I could give the "follow your dreams" answer and really believe in that. I don't think everyone is capable of doing whatever they want. Some people just don't have it in them. If you are capable of doing what you want though, then it's a real possibility. It's definitely something to consider, because you will probably be spending a lot of your life working, so finding a job which makes you happy seems like a great idea. I can understand that it isn't always possible, though.
