Is it normal to think claymation is creepy?

  • I'm a grown-ass college student and I seriously have some kind of weird extremist phobia of claymation. I can't handle it. I've watched about 10 minutes of Coraline, 10 minutes of the Nightmare Before Christmas, and about half of the Corpse Bride, and all 3 of those scared me half to death. There's something ridiculously horrific and almost satanic about the way Tim Burton does claymation... it's something with the limbo between animation and reality... but seriously. Tim Burton's characters are ridiculously scary! I'm thinking about the scenes where characters are ripped open and disgusting bugs or stuffing comes out or when a character twists or moves in an unnatural way or even characters' ugliness to the point of scariness, to be a little more specific. I just saw a commercial for that new one coming out with the dog and it just makes me feel uneasy and uncomfortable. Demonic describes it perfectly. I could go on forever about how much it freaks me out beyond comprehension, but I don't wanna bore you. It's just nice to know somebody else shares this phobia. Sorry that was so long... I had to get it out there. Whew.
