Is it normal to think all homeless people don't work hard enough

Is it normal that I think all homeless people don't work hard enough and are a drain on society?

I mean they just drain us of tax while others work hard. Should they be allowed to be in our citys while others go about their business. Why can't they just make more money?

      • I think this ^ is just not getting the bigger picture. My attempts are not to upset you. I am doing a project on humans reactions, the actual posts them selves I couldn't care if people answer normal or not. It is the reaction I am after. I was going to go farther with this but I think I have what I need. Telling you this would otherwise hinder my little project.

I have been posting for some time trying to see what people think is acceptable for a individual and whether or not it would be acceptable for another. For instance a while back I made some mildly racist posts/comments about white people; this seemed to fly under the radar and not hit a nerve with anybody. I again made mildly racist comments about ethnics and blacks; this however did not fly under the radar, this did hit nerves and I obtained very interesting reactions. I have learnt from IIN that a huge majority of people are influenced to much via media and tend not to think for themselves. I have learnt that most people scan text without reading it carefully and will be quick to feel hurt and need to hurt back. Example here is some text: I'm so disgusted in fat, people need to stop being ugly to each other. Stop eating fat, it is unhealthy. Why do we sell unhealthy food to niger.
Quick scan and you probably see things like "fat people, ugly fat people, niggers" It's actually very interesting. I could keep explaining but I would have a entire wall of text. There is method to my madness.

        Thanks for your time.

  • I was homeless once... Slept on a park bench one night. It was a hard few hours. But I am a tougher person for it.

I think you need to work harder and use that noggin of yours to realize many people don't choose to be homeless.

Nothing is everything. You can't say "always" with these kind of things. I think many times its people with victim mentality. When i was homeless for a short period I could justify anything and to me it was never my fault.

Honestly it depends. Think about it, we all have bad past experiences. You dont know what happened in that person's life to get them to the stage that they are at now, but you're also not wrong to think this way

There are different reasons for homelessness, I studied sociology in college and this topic was often discussed. Some people are homeless because of severe mental illness or drug abuse, services often are available to help them. But they don't seek them out because they don't think they have a problem or otherwise don't want to get involved with the system. And some even are "homeless by choice".

Others very much do not wish to live on the street. But they lack access to services. Thus, the state of homelessness is preventing them from treating mental health issues/drug addiction or simply getting themselves cleaned up for an interview. And not all people become homeless because of mental illness and drugs. Some simply fell on hard times.

Also, not all homeless people are homeless long term. Some homeless people are only sleeping a night or two out on the street for some reason, such as having to leave a house with a significant other due to a dysfunctional relationship. And are only homeless until they find a different place to live

Don't work hard enough at what? Being homeless?

    I don't understand the question

    • At not being homeless! Getting off the drugs! Finding employment! Saving their social security rather then pissing it away on alcohol! Not talking about the families going through a hard time an couch surfing I'm talking about the people that live at places like skidrow.

I dunno dude. Homeless people all have their own story to tell. I was homeless for a few months back when I was very young. I escaped from my abusive boyfriend in the middle of the night and had nowhere else to go. I sorted myself out after a few months by borrowing interview clothes from people I knew and lying my way into a shitty job. Used my first month's pay as a deposit for a shitty flat and basically starved myself that month. Walked to and from work for hours because I couldn't afford a bus pass. Pretended to everyone in the office that I was on a strict diet. I think they thought I had an eating disorder lol.

If I hadn't been lucky enough to know someone willing to lend me interview clothes and their shower, and I hadn't lied convincingly enough in my job interview, then who knows what would have happened?

I guess all I'm saying is everyone's situation is different. You can't come up with one answer for why all of those people aren't doing better. It will be a whole host of reasons.

        • lol We all lie an our resume.

See you a battler though. You didn't just sit there, blame the world and set up tent under a bridge panhandling for heroin.

I watched this doco thing about these homeless guys that got a pension/social security because they once was in the army or something like that. I get they have problems like ptsd and similar disorders. Thing is they were sitting there saying "I need more money on my disability pension, I risk my life for this country". Problem was they are addicted to heroin. They didn't want the money to make a life, they wanted more money for drugs n alcohol. They had enough money for somewhere to live, and food in their belly but they choose to spend it on drugs, but also panhandle for more drugs, then whinge that they don't get payed enough.

unless theyre addicted to drugs/alcohol then yeah they are a farce to society but for most its just a case of mega bad luck and the cycle of fuckery
